“ACTION BABY” INFANT CARRIERS RECALLED

Optave Inc. is recalling about 250 “Action Baby” infant carriers. The baby carrier’s chest strap can detach from the shoulder straps, posing a fall hazard to the baby.

Optave Inc. has received two reports of the chest strap detaching from the shoulder straps on the baby carrier. No injuries have been reported.

The recalled carriers were sold under the “Action Baby Carrier” brand name. The carriers are sold in various colors and patterns: blue, brown, green, “so square”, “the larrisa” and “spring breeze.”

They were sold at specialty retail stores nationwide and Internet sites from May 2008 through June 2008 for between $80 and $90. The carriers were made in the United States.

Consumers should immediately stop using the carrier in the positions that require the use of the chest strap and contact Optave to receive free replacement straps.

BACKYARD PLAY SYSTEMS RECALLS OUTDOOR GLIDERS

Backyard Play Systems LLC is recalling about 500 outdoor playset gliders. Some of the gliders were shipped with assembly instructions that did not inform consumers to tighten all lock nuts during assembly, including those attached by the manufacturer. As a result, some lock nuts were not fully fastened during assembly which could cause the glider to detach, posing a fall hazard to children.

Backyard Play Systems has received one report of a lock nut falling off. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves outdoor play set gliders designed to hang from home play equipment. The green plastic gliders were sold as an accessory to home play equipment marketed under the brand names Heartland Play Systems, Yardline Play Systems and Backyard Play Systems.

The gliders, made in China, were sold by Backyard Buildings and More and Lowe’s stores nationwide, and online at Costco.com, BettyMills.com, and BackyardBuildings.com from February 2008 through July 2008 for about $100.

Consumers should immediately stop using the gliders until all lock nuts are securely fastened. Backyard Play Systems is notifying all customers directly and is providing written instructions indicating the location of all lock nuts that must be securely fastened.

BRUNSWICK RECALLS ‘COLONIAL’ FOLDING GAME CHAIRS

Brunswick Bowling & Billiards Corp. is recalling aboug 1,700 folding game chairs. The retaining washers on the legs can loosen, causing the chair to become unstable. This poses a fall hazard to consumers.

Brunswick has received four reports of loose chair leg hardware. No injuries have been reported.

This recall involves the ‘Colonial’ model, folding wooden chairs for use with game tables. They were sold in sets of two. The chairs have a black seat cushion and either a cherry or chestnut finish.

Authorized Brunswick dealers nationwide sold the chairs from March 2007 through March 2008 for about $400 per set. They were made in China.

Consumers should immediately stop using the folding game chairs and contact the dealer where the chairs were purchased to schedule a free repair.
